LG has announced that its Arena handset has exceeded one million sales worldwide since it went on sale five months ago.
LG claimed that prior to the official launch, it was deluged with pre-orders and requests for early release from carriers and distributors in Europe. The handset is currently being sold in 53 countries and the manufacturer said it’s seeing intense interest from new carriers in countries such as France, Portugal and Romania.
LG president and CEO Dr. Skott Ahn said: "We live in an age when mobile phones are tools for entertaining and staying connected to the world. The LG Arena was developed to draw on this trend and LG has reached the pinnacle in terms of functionality and user convenience, which has been reflected in the consumer uptake.
"Considering the swift sales success of this device, it is true that real innovation comes from customers, so we will keep going out of our way to gain their insights and reflect their needs in our products."
The Arena was the first handset from LG to feature its 3D S-Class user interface, designed to enable users to have fast and easy access to content.
