Mobilk - Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, is showcasing its latest infrastructure and utilities technologies, supporting the region’s ongoing Smart City adoption plans at this year’s IoTx event held at Dubai World Trade Centre from 29-31 March 2016. Huawei is exhibiting its Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure solutions at its stand while sharing insights on the future of IoT during the conference.
Huawei is showcasing a number of IoT solutions including its newly launched Connected Cities Lighting Solution, an innovative IoT solution for city street lighting that was first announced at CeBIT 2016 in Germany. The solution connects street lighting to a city’s network and uses a GIS-based management system, enabling city’s utility management to enhance the control and performance of every street.
“Huawei’s Connected City Lighting Solution is just one of many examples where we are taking a leadership role in developing large-scale IoT solutions that enable governments regionally to capitalize on advanced infrastructure technologies and create smarter, more efficient cities,” said Safder Nazir, Regional VP of Smart Cities & IoT, Huawei. The IoT opportunity is vast and requires multiple forms of technology in order to address the various use cases. Huawei will be demonstrating a range of solutions based on current and future ready technologies, such as Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT)”.
Huawei has also taken the opportunity to finalize its partnership with Landis+Gyr AG to jointly develop smart metering solutions for Middle East market, based on Huawei’s Hi-PLC module and Landis+Gyr’s E350 modular electricity meter. The move will see the development of a smart power metering solution for specific utility initiatives in the Middle East.
“We realize that Smart City initiatives will continue to rely heavily on innovation by technology leaders like Huawei as key enablers of smarter services in many verticals; from government to transportation, utilities, education and healthcare. Huawei will exhibit a number of leading edge IoT solutions to address real world challenges for these and other industries,” added Nazir.
