Mobilk - Middle East Telecommunications Company (METCO) participated in Zain Technology Conference (ZTC) 2012 that was held in Dubai from 5th to 7th November, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Festival City.
The aim of ZTC is to fully align Zain, its operations, and its technology partners to be more focused on operational efficiencies and better customer experience. METCO has been working with Zain for the past 25 years in transmissions & backhaul networks in several countries such Kuwait, Iraq and Sudan.
METCO presented some of its partners including Aviat, Ciena, and Juniper to discuss new approaches to a greater convergence of a wide range of technology and customer experience management tools.
METCOs partners conducted sessions throughout the conference where each partner covered its specialty in the field of telecommunications and information technology. Aviat conducted 2 sessions; Convergence and Network TCO and Small cell backhaul, Ciena 2 sessions; Evolution of Network Architecture toward Packet OTN and Carrier Ethernet for Next Generation Mobile Backhaul Networks, and Juniper carried out 3 sessions; Packet Core solutions -(Core Track), Cloud computing-(IT track), and NGN (MPLS and OTN)-(Transmission track).
Bassem A. Jalil, METCO Chief Executive Officer, stated, "METCO delivers its solutions through partnering with international companies, adding our presence in the Middle East and Africa, and experience to provide the required infrastructure for the new technologies including 3G and LTE."
At the ZTC, Zain Group has also launched its new strategy "Ghaduna Zain" (which reflects looking towards a brighter future and the investment market is in better shape with Zain. This is the 2nd time the conference is held, since the last conference was held in Bahrain 2009; but it is first time the conference merges IT and Networks. Around 40 technology & services partners participated in the conference.
