Mobilk - Integration and Enabling People with Special Needs,” held at the Abdul Rahman Jassim Preparatory School for Boys, Al Wakrah.
The company is using its support for the event to raise awareness of the broad range of specialist services and innovative technology it makes available for people with special needs in Qatar.
At the Forum, which runs from 20-22 March, experts from Qtel are helping to showcase the range of new services and solutions that can empower people with special needs.
All people who hold the ID card from Qatar Society for the
Rehabilitation of Special needs are eligible for a range of discounts and special services. These services are also available for all people over the age of 65 in Qatar.
Among the discounts available are special 50 percent discounts on Shahry Value Packs, Mobile Internet, Home Broadband and Mozaic services. For people with hearing difficulties, the availability of camera phones linked to the Internet has proven to be an important new service, as has the increased availability of SMS and MMS services.
For the visually-impaired, Qtel offers “Gold Mobile Speak Easy”, which is a bilingual software reader application that enables the use of speech to make and receive calls, compose and read SMS, MMS, and e-mail, and even download books to be read aloud.
Customers with special needs are also eligible to receive a new phone from Qtel, for free, every two years. Where possible, the phones are updated with the most suitable technology to suit the customer’s special needs.
Earlier in March, Qtel was named as the first private sector organisation in the country to be accredited with the “committed to accessibility” badge by Mada (Qatar Assistive Technology Centre), under its “National Web Accreditation Programme.” This recognition was achieved by Qtel’s commitment to creating an accessible web portal that people with special needs can access easily and effectively.
