Zain Bahrain put its commitment to the community into action this week when it donated BD 3500 to the refurbishment of a workers’ camp in Salmabad as part of its Humanitarian Gesture Wonder. The requirements of the camp were identified by the Workers’ Welfare sub-committee of the Indian Ladies’ Association who will assist in supervising the project.
“We shall be helping to refurbish the kitchens and toilet areas of the camp in which 150 workers live. In the process we hope to give them a safer and cleaner living space,” said Zain Bahrain’s Corporate Communications Manager, Samya Hussain, “This will include replacing the kitchen cabinets, painting the kitchens and providing a clean working space and repairing the leaks and drainage in the toilet area.”
Meanwhile, inspired by the contribution of Zain Bahrain, the ILA has also generously donated not only its supervision skills but also BD 300 as a contribution towards the smaller essential repairs in the camp.
“The plight of workers in the smaller camps is often difficult and by coming forward with such a generous humanitarian gesture, Zain Bahrain has set a wonderful example for us all,” said President Shanthini Raja.
The project is part of Zain Bahrain’s Festival of Wonders campaign which has already transformed the lives of thousands of workers through a sustained program of health camps, entertainment and leisure events and humanitarian gestures.
Zain Bahrain’s Wonders campaign touches the entire community and has a special segment dedicated to honoring the expatriate worker who works alongside his Bahraini brothers to build an enhanced Bahrain.
