Qtel is providing full sponsorship for the 8th GCC Heart Conference, held under the patronage of H.H. Emir of Qatar, which begins on Thursday in Doha.
Organised by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the conference is one of the largest events of its kind in the region, hosting a number of internationally-recognized associations in an effort to investigate key issues related to cardiology and health.
The three-day conference will feature lectures in ultra-modern specialisations in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgeries. Over 1,000 participants from around the world are attending the event.
A major focus of some sessions at the conference will be the pioneering work being undertaken by health authorities in Qatar, and at the Hamad Medical Corporation in particular, in the field of heart disease management.
Qtel is supporting the event as part of its wider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which is organised under the banner, “For Qatar, Hand in Hand.”
As part of this programme, Qtel has supported a wide range of healthcare initiatives, including support for medical conferences, and sponsorship for medical camps, and special treatments for people in Qatar. Qtel provided full support for the construction of the “Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Centre,” which is operated by Hamad Medical Corporation and which opened in March 2010.
As a proud Qatari company, Qtel sees its role as a partner in the local economy and a keen supporter of local initiatives. This commitment is reflected in the year-round activities that Qtel supports, including local education and healthcare, environmental, social welfare and sporting activities.
