Mobilk - Under the patronage of HE Shaikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, Ooredoo, in collaboration with the British Council, celebrated the graduation of 230 women from Wave 7 of its Springboard Programme. Held at Grand Millennium, the graduation was attended by Ooredoo executive and management teams and representatives from different sectors, including the hospitality sector in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, SQU, Ibra Haima Women’s Association, several government bodies, the Girls School from Nizwa Taimsa and the Child Care Centre).
Ian Dench, CEO of Ooredoo, said “To date we have graduated more than 1200 women from the Springboard programme. When we provide opportunities to teach and empower women, we are creating a lasting impact on future generations as well as enabling women to actively build the economic future of Oman. This programme not only develops key business skills, but it is also builds confidence, allowing women to achieve more in in all aspects of their lives. We are proud to be playing a supporting role in enhancing Omani women’s skills and knowledge and ultimately building entrepreneurship and a more active role for women in society.”
The Springboard programme, which was designed by women for women, consists of a number of components run over the course of three months. The workshops tackle subjects such as confidence building, goal setting, networking, work-life balance and key business building skills. This wave included a number of teachers from the education sector across the Sultanate as well as members of the Ibra Women’s Association and the child care centre. Participants were grouped in teams and tasked with creating projects. Wave 7 focused ‘sustainability’ and covered a number of themes including financial guidance, the creation of apps for farmers, SME support apps, online pharmacies, and much more.
To date, Springboard has been introduced to over 252,287 women in over 46 countries, with 408 licensed trainers globally, empowering them harness their talents and live healthier, happier and more productive lives.
