TRA Holds A Meeting With The Russian Spectrum Administration For Coordination In The Field Of Satellite Frequencies

Mobilk - Represented by the spectrum administration, Telecommunications Regularity Authority (TRA) held a series of coordination meetings with its Russian counterpart on cooperation in the field of satellite frequencies in Geneva, between 3-7 April. These meetings were held upon the request of the Russian administration because of the need for coordination of radio frequencies and the needs related to the satellite networks between the two countries.

TRA chaired the delegation of the participating country, which included representatives of Satellite Communications Company "YAHSAT" and Thuraya. The two sides emphasized the importance of coordinating the work of satellite networks and utilizing the latest and best technical solutions to prevent interference in radio waves satellite and broadcasting services in all its forms to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, quality and continuity of services and communications in all circumstances.

Stressing on the importance of this meeting, H.E Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General stated: "TRA is keen to cooperate with its counterparts in all countries under the umbrella of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to share experiences and learn best practices in all areas related to the telecommunications sector. The meeting is aimed at ensuring the highest levels of coordination in the field of satellite and digital broadcasting. Today, the world is on the threshold of a new phase of enhancing the use of satellites, especially small ones, in the transition to the fifth-generation of networks."

H.E. added: "The strengthening of the international cooperation relations in the field of communications is in line with the vision of the UAE to benefit from the most important achievements reached in various scientific fields and to allow the young national talents to contribute to the scientific development movement. We are confident that this cooperation will positively influence many of the countrys vital and strategic projects, including the UAEs quest to reach Mars through the probe of hope."

It is worth mentioning that the TRA has signed recently several understanding memorandums in this field, and held a series of coordination meetings with its counterparts in many countries at the regional and international levels with a view to achieving the highest levels of efficiency and operation in the field of satellite communications.
