Mobilk - The Center of Digital Innovation (CoDI) at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authorities (TRA), in collaboration with ICDL Arabia and Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundations (AMAF)- DUBAI, organizes training courses for orphans that allow them to obtain the International Computer Driving License (ICDL). The courses start today and continue until April 6th. The Courses cover the basics of internet safety, the basics of social media, and the basics of Internet search.
These courses are held at the premises of AMAF, and run by a group of Computer expert trainers. These courses will be added to a series of initiatives that the TRA plans to implement this year, which have been developed during the brainstorming session held by TRA on the occasion of announcing the 2017 as the Year of Giving in the UAE.
Commenting on these efforts, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, said: Giving is an inherent culture of the UAE people, and an approach we are keen to dedicate and instill in the young generations as a commitment to the values of the UAE community, and in accordance with the directives of our wise leadership towards making the 2017 the year of giving in our beloved country. We have launched several charitable initiatives that include various social groups and segments, and varied between financial support, training, counseling and others. We are confident that these initiatives will have a profound impact on building a more cohesive and stronger community, and enhance the bonds between its various groups.
H.E. Tayeb Abdelrahman Al-Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, said: This initiative integrates with our mission to provide the best levels of knowledge that guarantee orphans a decent life and open their horizons for success by empowering them and nurturing their creativity. We appreciate TRAs efforts in supporting and enabling vulnerable groups to acquire technological skills that allow them to contribute to the social and economic development of the UAE. This initiative reflects the commitment of national institutions to the national strategy of the Year of Giving and their keenness to cooperate and participate in creating hope and happiness in the UAE society of all categories.
Engineer Majed Al Madhloum, Director of CoDI, said: This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to empower national talents and equip them with the necessary ICT technologies and skills. This course is a good opportunity that allows the participants to receive training on how to deal with various computers and programs and to use them for learning currently, and for seeking job opportunities in the future.
It is worth mentioning that at the end of the course, the participants will be honored and the successful ones will receive certificates.
