Mobilk - After months of preparation, Ooredoo has announced plans for its two week Goodwill Journey. Now in its 11th year, the Company’s leading CSR activity is held every Ramadan to provide charitable organisations and local communities with life enriching support.
This year’s Journey, the first since rebranding, will focus on empowering remote communities, developing financial independence in women, and delivering training workshops to improve lives in a sustainable way. Ooredoo will, for the first time this year, be giving the public an opportunity to get involved and be part of the family by making their own Goodwill donations. Donation boxes for children’s toys and gifts will be placed at a number of stores and distributed throughout the Journey.
“Our aim this year is to achieve bigger and better results to help families and communities by empowering them through advanced education, skills training, charitable donations, and use our brand presence to inspire others to touch the hearts of those in need. Giving back to the community by championing social and economic development has always been a key part of our goals and the Goodwill Journey remains an essential part of our strategy,” said Kumail Al Moosawi, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Ooredoo. “I’d like highlight the tremendous contribution of Ooredoo family volunteers, who, for many years, leave their families behind during Ramadan and will head spread smiles across the Sultanate. This year they will head as far north as Musandam before stopping in Ad Dakhiliyah Governate on their way back to Muscat. The second phase will take our volunteers to Masirah and Dhofar.”
First launched in 2005, Ooredoo’s Goodwill Journey takes fasting goodwill ambassadors on a voyage of compassion generosity and enablement, covering the length and breadth of Oman. Since the inaugural event, Ooredoo volunteers have travelled more than 48,000 kilometers and visited over 160 charitable organisations and associations, resulting in more than 10,000 people being supported by the initiative.
