Mobilk - Ooredoo lowered prepaid and postpaid tariffs on calls to Nepal in response to the devastating earthquake that ravaged the country. This special offer will help keep callers in Oman connected to loved ones in the Himalayan nation, with a flat rate of 45 baizas per minute when using the company’s International Direct Dialing, 0902, More International, and Mousbak International services.
“The reduction in charges took effect less than 24 hours after the earthquake struck and will be active until 3 May and will apply to all Ooredoo users,” said Feras Al Shaikh, Director of Consumer Sales at Ooredoo. “All of us have been saddened by the great loss of life and destruction witnessed in Nepal, which is why we launched this initiative as quickly as possible. There are 2.2 million Nepalese working outside their country with over 12,000 of them living here in the Sultanate. This is part of our efforts to reach out to the Nepalese community and support them in their time of need.”
The massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which hit Nepal last week, has so far claimed 5,000 lives and caused colossal damage to infrastructure. An estimated eight million people have been affected by the quake, amounting to more than a third of the country’s population.
