Mobilk - Ooredoo’s Head Office and Contact Centre joined its 29 stores across the Sultanate in powering down all unnecessary electrical appliances for one hour on the 28 March to support Earth Hour with millions across the globe. The global initiative unites people to protect the planet through greater environmental efficiency and asks people to turn off all lights and other non-essential electrical items at a specified time. During the company’s participation, customers experienced full network service and continued to receive the highest levels of connectivity.
The company’s commitment to safeguarding the environment has always been a priority and to that end Ooredoo continues to search-out and implement advanced eco-friendly practices. One of its latest initiatives includes the Ooredoo Oman Mobile App, which in addition to convenience and accessibility, has allowed customers to pay their bills online reducing the need for paper even further. Ooredoo also uses recycling bins and energy-efficient lighting and appliances in its Head Office and across its stores to instil an environmentally conscious culture amongst its family members.
Ooredoo’s pledge was made on the official Earth Hour website (www.omanearthhour.org) as a part of its ongoing care for the environment. Earth Hour is a non-profit organisation with the mission of bringing people together to reduce the negative effects on earth’s deteriorating ozone layer. Over 162 countries and territories worldwide now partake in the famed event each year, with 2014 reporting more than 7,000 towns, cities and municipalities taking part.
