Batelco Donates BD10,000 to AWA to Support Cherry Tree Trot 2014

Mobilk - Batelco has announced its exclusive Platinum Sponsorship of the American Women’s Association (AWA) Cherry Tree Trot 2014, which will take place at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) on December 13, 2014.

Batelco Consumer Division General Manager Muna Al Hashimi presented the BD10,000 cheque to AWA President Lisa Wahba at the AWA monthly general meeting which was held at the Movenpick on November 10. Also in attendance were AWA Vice President Dr. Sana Mahmandar,  

Cherry Tree Trot Chairperson Mary McGinnis, Cherry Tree Trot Co-Chairperson Jan Roosevelt and Batelco Public Relations Specialist Madeleine Doporto. In pledging BD10,000 towards the event, Batelco has reaffirmed its commitment to assisting local charitable organisations to carry out their good works in the community.

Mrs. Al Hashimi said that she was delighted to represent Batelco and hand over this significant contribution to support the work of the AWA.

“The AWA has been synonymous with charitable work in the local community over the past 40 years and we are confident that the committee will do a great job in allocating much needed financial aid to scores of Bahraini charities throughout the coming year,” she said. 

“The Cherry Tree Trot always draws huge numbers of Bahrain’s residents of all ages and nationalities and we at Batelco are looking forward once again to being central supporters and participants of this popular event,” Mrs. Al Hashimi added.

AWA President Lisa Wahba said that the AWA was delighted once again to welcome Batelco as the Cherry Tree Trot Platinum Sponsor. 

“Batelco has been a major sponsor for many years and we are thrilled to have them support our flagship charity event.”

“The AWA is proud to be the only society in the Kingdom of Bahrain that organizes an event such as the Cherry Tree Trot that includes young and old of all nationalities, whether they are able bodied or disabled,” she said.
