Mobilk - Ooredoo has launched a new mobile application to connect women across the Sultanate to the world’s leading female voices. The SmartWoman™ app is exclusive to Ooredoo customers with a two month free-trial period and enables women to access rich, dynamic content by expert writers in Arabic and English, network with other subscribers, ask questions and share their own experiences on a wide range of topics. All this directly from their smartphone through an easy-to-use interface.
“The SmartWoman™ app is an innovative and valuable tool designed for everything that today’s modern woman needs to enhance her career and learning, as well as many other areas of daily life on a personal and professional level. Whether women want to improve their parenting skills, break the glass ceiling or simply lead a healthier lifestyle, it’s all there”said Amaal Al Lawati, Director at Ooredoo. ”There’s something for every woman at every stage of life. I personally found the ‘ask an expert’ part to be the most useful, because it acts like a sounding board to help me make more informed decisions.”
Powered by social connectivity, the app creates learning opportunities for women who don’t have access to formal education. SmartWoman™ also offers a new model of sponsoring women in rural areas, helping them to make a better life for themselves and their families, as well as the opportunity to pledge support to a number of women’s organisations and NGOs.
The app features contributions provided by Knowledge Oman from local female ambassadors and experts and is part of a global initiative for gender equality and entrepreneurship supported by Qualcomm Wireless Reach™. It is part of the overall SmartWoman™ project, supported by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.
Customers can download the app for free on iOS and Android devices by visiting www.smartwomanoman.com. Following the two month free trial, the service will be available for a weekly fee of 300 Baizas.
