Mobilk - Nawras has successfully activated the third 3G+ Data Carrier on U900 along the Al Batinah coastline to complete the last 2013 Turbocharging milestone. As a result customers can enjoy much faster download speeds through a significantly improved internet browsing experience from Al Bustan to Shinas, combined with much better indoor coverage. The countrywide Turbocharging Programme will continue into 2014 to modernise all base stations in all of the Sultanate’s main cities.
“In November, we activated the enhanced 3G+ services in Quriyat and Dagmar. This was done as part of extensive testing and preparation in order to assure a seamless activation of this excellent service in the densely populated areas of Al Batinah coastline”, said Wolfgang Wemhoff, Nawras Chief Technology Officer.
He added, “Activation of the third 3G+ carrier boosted especially our customers’ online experience in their homes and offices. Moving on with the countrywide Turbocharging Programme, Nawras have tripled mobile data speed across the entire Nawras network. We enhanced significantly the data capacity within the turbocharged areas allowing customers to enjoy fast internet browsing and download speeds. Nawras aims to provide 3G+ services to over 90% of the population of Oman by the end of 2014. Furthermore, our customers in the Wilayat of Madha in Musandam now can enjoy fast mobile internet browsing for the first time.”
Nawras is the first and only operator in Oman and 70th among 800 plus operators in the globe using the U900 spectrum, offering an immediate noticeable improvement in indoor data experience.
