Mobilk - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has organized a special celebration for the second anniversary of Martyrs Day, which marks November 30 of each year, in addition to the National Day celebration, which took place with the participation of TRA employees and customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The Martyrs Day ceremony started at 8.00 a.m. on Wednesday 30 November as the UAE flag had been flown at half-mast. By 11.30 a.m. the TRA employees observed a minute of silence, praying for the souls of the UAE martyrs who gave their lives in defending their countrys safety and dignity, followed by flag-raising again.
Highlighting the importance and significance of this celebration, H.E Engineer Majed Al Mesmar, Acting Director General of TRA, said: Celebrating the Martyrs Day has a symbolic significance and a message of pride and honour of the sacrifices of our sons, the martyrs, whom provided their most valuable possession defending the dignity of our homeland. We, in TRA, are aware that the best way to pay tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs is to continue the work, each from his position, in order to maintain the advanced position of our country in all fields.
H.E Al Mesmar added: Reviving the Martyrs Day coincides with our celebrations of the National Day, which represents the sense of belonging, citizenship and decent life values under our wise leadership who undertook empowering of UAE citizens and providing decent and honorable livelihood. This day represents a milestone in the history of the UAE as we all remember the vision and wisdom of the founding fathers, and their patriotic approach, which constitutes the basis for our wise leadership to proceed with its efforts to build a bright future for all of us.
The National Day celebrations included organizing special talent exhibition of TRA employees and their children. In addition to organizing the contest Turathi, that sheds the light on many of UAE famous traditional crafts and handicrafts. Moreover, the infantry division provided a performance, and a platform for taking photos was set to memorize the meaning and values of this celebration.
Coinciding with the occasion, TRA has organized a series of performances and entertainment, all of which focused on the meanings and values of citizenship and belonging. The activities have witnessed active and distinct participation by TRAs employees and customers of different nationalities in a scene that reflects the spirit of tolerance, peace and cultural intermingling in the UAE.
