Local Businesses Get a Boost in Construction of  Ooredoo’s New Data Centre

Mobilk - Committed to supporting both the Sultanate’s digital transformation and the local community, Ooredoo has announced the first phase of construction of its brand-new Data Centre, including an initiative to on-board Omani businesses for the building and supplies for the project. The state-of-the-art facility, located in Bawsher, will have a capacity of 600 racks and will prioritise the use of local products and services including paint, tiles, steel material, electrical switch gear and other required products according to its specifications. The Data Centre is part of Ooredoo’s efforts to meet the rapidly growing demand for hosting and data processing, and now also serves to promote and support the role of private sector companies in the national economy.

Ahmed Abdullah Al Abri, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Ooredoo, said, “As the Sultanate’s data experience leaders, we strive to meet the needs of our customers and support the Sultanate on its digital transformation journey. By giving priority to local products in the new Data Centre as much as possible, we are fulfilling our commitment to back local businesses, which goes beyond our relationship as a communications provider. The Data Centre is the latest in a growing number of technical facilities we are operating across the country, helping to meet its ever-evolving digital requirements.”
