Mobilk - Ooredoo is set to hold the very first online auction in Oman for vanity numbers on 5 February. The online system will allow customers to bid on the popular Diamond or Gold category vanity mobile numbers, with the money generated going to charity. Interested buyers needing to pay just an OMR 20 registration fee before they can start bidding.
Feras bin Abdallah Al Shaikh, Director of Consumer Sales at Ooredoo, “The rise in popularity of mobile vanity numbers over the past few years has been amazing and we have focused on bringing this exclusive service to customers in a unique and fun way. We are proud to integrate auctioning into our customer service delivery and to use it to bring vanity numbers to our customers. Through this exciting online system, we aim to reach the largest possible number of interested users and what’s more, the money raised will go to charitable organisations in the Sultanate”.
In the past, vanity numbers were used by businesses to create a professional brand image, with an easy to remember, toll-free number. However, in recent years vanity numbers have made their way into personal uses such as license plates and mobile phone numbers, as a unique way to display individuality.
Five types of diamond numbers will be on offer varying from numbers containing the same digit repeated consecutively at least five times to numbers containing the same digit consecutively four times at end or next to end to name but a few.
In addition, gold numbers containing the same digit consecutively at least five times at the end or next to the end and a different digit separating the first and second or third and fourth repetition; will be one of the seven variations available on offer.
Vanity number hunters can review the terms and conditions of registration at www.ooredoo.com.
