STC adds 429 new broadband network coverage sites

Mobilk - STC added new 429 broadband network coverage sites throughout Saudi regions, furthering its effort to develop an integrated infrastructure and network efficiency by committing itself to offer the latest 3G and 4G broadband services, high-speed 3G services (42Mbps), FTTH services and high - speed VDSL.

STC deployed 4G high - speed network to customers to enhance mobile network efficiency utilizing on its competitive edge through providing 4G LTE services bringing the total sites covered by 4G LTE network to more than 2,400 sites in various parts of the Kingdom with plans to extend it to 90% by the end of 2014. In addition, total sites covered by 3G high - speed network (42 Mbps) amount to 6,400 sites across KSA. 

STC effected substantial FTTH coverage accrued to around 1,600 sites nationwide. Total FTTH connections implemented by STC rose to some 620,000 with an increment of 722% in the aggregate number of customers during Q3 2012. STC plans to interconnect more than 1.5 million customers by the end of 2014 as it has finalized installing FTTH fiber optics connections totaling more than 300,000 km in Saudi cities and regions. 

It is worth mentioning that as the internet penetration stepped up to more than 50% in KSA, STC continued offering new high-speed internet coverage sites as it dominates up to 90% of Saudi data transfer market. STCs modern networks are reputable for reliability and seamless support for the interactive TV and other state-of-the art applications.
