  • Ooredoo Unifies Roaming Rates in the GCC

Mobilk - Ooredoo has reduced the roaming rates on calls, SMS, and mobile data services within the GCC region. Ooredoo customers can remain connected with their families and friends while traveling, through coverages across any mobile network in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait.

Feras bin Abdallah Al Shaikh, Director of Consumer Sales, said: "Since its establishment in 1981, the GCC has brought the residents and citizens of its six member states closer than ever before. Due to the vast business and their close personal ties, it is crucial for us to remain connected with the neighbouring countries under a universal roaming rate combined with competitive services and prices. The unified tariff structure permits us to uphold that; by providing superior communication within the GCC region for our valued customers during their travels” He/she added: “We continue to explore opportunities where we can permit our customers to enjoy high quality products and services”.

Ooredoo’s unified tariffs supports Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) initiatives and provide customers with the same standard rate for local roaming calls, data and SMS in every GCC country they travel to and with any operator they use. Delivering even greater added value, local calls can be made while roaming for just 92 Baizas while calls to other GCC countries are just 231 Baizas a minute. SMS are charged at 23 Baizas per text. And the cost of data has also been significantly reduced to just 231 Baizas per MB; a 30% reduction compared to last year’s rates. Travellers have also been given a major cut back on the price of received calls, which have been lowered to 85 Baizas per minute.

In addition to its new roaming rates, Ooredoo also offers cost-effective Ooredoo Passport data and voice bundles perfectly tailored for any trip within the GCC. Available with all operators in the region, the bundles include Passport daily, Passport 2 Days, and Passport Weekly. To subscribe, customer simply need to dial *141*401# for postpaid and *141*501# for prepaid or use Ooredoo Oman App. To find out more about Ooredoo’s inspiring products and services for travel abroad, visit their website: www.ooredoo.om/passport, download the Ooredoo Oman app or visit any of their 50 stores located across Oman.
