Marking the conclusion of its “Majena” Ramadan SMS Competition, Asiacell – the first and largest Iraqi telecommunications company and the first mobile telecom company to provide coverage for all of Iraq – announced Lava Sardar, a 15 year-old girl, as the winner of the IQD 50 million grand prize. Lava won the competition’s draw after sending only eight SMSs to the dedicated short code.
Asiacell launched its Ramadan SMS Competition at the beginning of the holy month, giving its prepaid and postpaid subscribers the chance to win daily cash prizes worth IQD 3 million, weekly cash prizes worth IQD 6 million and a grand prize worth IQD 50 million.
The 10th grade student was accompanied by her uncle Taher Mohammed Hama Saleh, owner of the Asiacell SIM Card, during a ceremony that was held to hand over the grand prize in accordance with legal regulations.
Lava expressed her pleasure at winning and thanked Asiacell for presenting fun and engaging competitions that offer great prizes. “I was shocked when I received the news that I had won IQD 50 million from Asiacell, especially since I had only sent eight SMSs! I’m glad that I participated in the competition and look forward to trying my luck in future Asiacell events,” she added.
“We believe that competitions are a great way of recognizing and rewarding our subscribers for making Asiacell their telecom operator of choice and for placing their trust in us. The Ramadan SMS Competition is our way of engaging with our subscribers while offering them an entertaining and educational experience,” commented Dr. Diar Ahmed, CEO of Asiacell.
The Ramadan SMS Competition ended on 4th September, 2011, with the announcement of all daily, weekly and grand prize draw winners.
