Zain, part of the Zain group, the leading mobile telecommunications provider in the Middle East and Africa, signed a partnership agreement with the University of Jordan, which includes providing special offers for the official university lines.
Signing the agreement were Zain's CEO Saad Nasser and Dr Khaled Karaki on behalf of the University of Jordan.
This agreement, which reflects Zain's interest to support the educational sector and its stakeholders, will enhance the standing partnership between Zain and the University of Jordan. Zain continuously launches initiatives that target all universities across the Kingdom.
On signing the agreement, Dr Karaki expressed his pride in Zain's great role towards serving the developmental sectors in Jordan, particularly the educational field, which is considered a basic pillar of national development.
Dr Karaki acknowledged Zain's national achievements in the field of communications and technology, confirming the university's interest in Zain to serve university students.
Nasser confirmed Zain's commitment to its continuous support of the educational sector by way of launching initiatives directly related to the educational process or by providing services and benefits to serve this main sector in the Kingdom.
He stressed on the importance of cooperation between the private and academic sectors in the Kingdom and the need for constant communication to serve the developmental process and to develop the local community.
Zain has launched many initiatives related to developing the educational system. The latest initiatives involved establishing a communications laboratory at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) and launching a project to connect students with a database in universities where they could access information about grades and courses by SMS.
Four years ago, Zain established the Zain Fund for University Education that annually grants 42 university scholarships for distinguished students. Zain also established a number of community centers for information technology in Maan, Baqaa Camp, Wahdat and Karak that focus on developing human resources through enhancing information technology and communication (ICT) skills.
