Zain, part of the Zain Group, launched the Tarjem service for spontaneous translation of SMS text, in collaboration with Sakhr Software, one of the leading companies in the field of technology and translation that started providing this service through the internet more than a decade ago.
Offered for the first time in Jordan, Zain customers will benefit from the service by sending the text that needs translation to 93020. They will receive an immediate translation of the whole text, which would then appear as an SMS on their mobile phones at a cost of 10 piaster per message. Customers will also be able to have access to the IT Service List that Zain provides by pressing *111# and choosing the word ‘New’ followed by the option ‘Translation’, then typing the text that needs translation.
This service enables all Zain customers to obtain prompt translation for a text from and into Arabic and English languages through SMS. It is designed to meet the increasing needs of Zain customers as it is considered an enhancement for Dictionary/Qamous service provided by the company for many years, thus enabling customers to obtain instant translation for single words from Arabic to English and visa versa.
Zain's Senior Data Manager Ziad Al Masri, said that this launch is a result of the increasing demand for the information services provided by the company. Through offering these wide range of services, Zain also aims at meeting all the diverse needs and requirements of its customers, as well as carrying out regular studies to review all information and data services provided by the company and ensure they meet all the varying needs of its costumers.
Al Masri added: "People today are required to gain knowledge of more than one language to meet all business needs that entail dealing with different nationalities. The new service provided by Zain would help enhance the service users’ language attainment. It would also save time and effort for customers and enhance their performance. We believe the role of mobile phones in increasing the productivity of individuals cannot be overlooked."
Zain offers a vast fortune of value-added information and data services through SMS, the sight and sound messages in addition to the internet browsing, blogs, and auction services. The company also offers a special section for electronic games on the company’s website as well as electronic mail and the 1234 direct service through SMS, the ‘Sammeni’ services, TV viewing through the mobile phone, and electronic payment and recharging of cards through its website.
