Batelco, as part of its commitment to support the local community is sponsoring 4 students from Abdulrahman Kanoo School to participate in a charity trip to Zanzibar commencing on 31st January. The students, part of a group of 50 students, aged 14 to 17 and 6 teachers, will deliver goods to students in poor locations and help with renovation of classroom facilities.
During the visit the students will take part in the renovation of a number of classrooms including painting and making school desks. Batelco’s donation is also helping to purchase food, stationery items, sports goods, books and school bags, which the Kanoo School students will deliver to the students.
Batelco Corporate Affairs General Manager Nadia Hussain presented the sponsorship cheque to A.Rahman Kanoo School Public Relations representative Sayid Mohammed at a meeting held at Batelco Headquarters in Hamala in the presence of three students who are participating in the trip.
Mr. Mohammed reported that a trip to Tanzania in March 2008 was very successful and that the young students who participated thanks to Batelco’s support showed a high level of maturity in helping those less fortunate than themselves.
"We are very grateful that once again, Batelco is stepping in to ensure the success of our worthwhile programme," he said.
"Such programmes show the world that Bahrain’s students are capable of assisting in the educational process in underdeveloped and poor nations," said Mrs. Hussain.
