  • Prestigious Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2013 presented to Huawei in the ‘service’ category

Mobilk - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has been recognized by business and government leaders from across the UAE for overall business excellence in the ‘service’ category at the seventh annual Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards (MRM Business Award) 2013 held at the Madinat Jumeirah on November 13th. Underscoring Huawei’s contribution to the development of the ICT ecosystem in UAE, the thorough application of industry best practices, robust CSR initiatives, and customer-centric innovation were all factors in distinguishing the brand from competitors in its industry.

“The UAE is an important and strategic hub for the region’s ICT industry, with Huawei proud to be able to share our global expertise in support of local partners, customers and the public,” says Mr. Peng Xiongji, General Manger, Huawei, UAE. “As we work to enrich life through communication, we thank the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for this recognition and remain committed to upholding the values of business excellence while supporting the communities in which we operate. That will include continuing to improve our organizational structure, processes, and appraisal systems to meet customer needs and advance our technology leadership.”

Evaluated across stringent selection criteria, Huawei’s continued focus on customer satisfaction, supported by a dedicated customer complaint cell, as well as strengths in innovation, human resource management and strategic local alliances – especially with local educational institutions—was noted in particular as a key factor for Huawei’s recognition this year. Other areas that contributed to its success in the category included implementation of best business practices and high penetration and growth within the UAE market balanced with significant local CSR initiatives.

Huawei provides a broad range of tailored ICT products, solutions and consulting services in UAE, structured around its three core business groups - Carrier Networks, Enterprise and Device. Known as Huawei’s “cloud-pipe-device” strategy, this ability to offer end-to-end ICT solutions to the public has served as a core differentiator for the business in UAE.

In the telecommunications field, Huawei Carrier division has continued to work with leading operators across UAE and the Middle East to deliver new solutions that will help carriers simplify their networks and achieve a smooth evolution to next-generation technologies. In the last year this has included alliances with top operators in UAE such as Etisalat, for a new global agreement for consultancy services.

Within the enterprise ICT market, Huawei Enterprise has also rapidly emerged as a partner of choice for customers in a wide range of verticals covering IP network infrastructure, unified communications and collaboration, and cloud computing & data centers. Highlights of the Enterprise business groups deployments within UAE include a forthcoming contribution to the development of the Etihad Rail project—the first railway line in the UAE, as well as collaborations with groups like Tawazun in the UAE in creating a secure network environment to support the growth of UAEs industrial manufacturing and technology capabilities in the defense sector.

Additionally, Huawei’s consumer brand—Huawei Device—now offers stylish consumer products covering a wide range of market sectors. Over the past year, the most notable Huawei Device milestones, many of them world firsts in the smartphone space – have included the launch of the world’s slimmest—the Ascend P6; the world’s fastest—the Ascend P2—and the world’s largest smartphone, the Ascend Mate.

Since 1997, Huawei has worked with world-leading consultancies, such as IBM, Hay Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG and Accenture to enhance its management capabilities and establish processes and systems driven by customer demand. Huawei products and solutions have been deployed in over 140 countries and today serve more than one third of the worlds population.
