Mobilk - Meeting with leaders from across the region’s oil & gas sector at the forthcoming ADIPEC 2013 conference in Abu Dhabi, Huawei—a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider—has outlined plans to help drive organizations in the oil & gas industry through sharing innovative “smart” oilfield technologies aimed at boosting production efficiency and creating an environment that is safe to work. The event is being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from November 10 – 13.
“Health and safety is always the highest priority in the oil & gas industry. Underpinned by our global commitment to environment, health and safety, Huawei is working with Oil and Gas operators to address ways in which we can provide tools to facilitate a work setting that is safe not just for the workforce but can also protect business assets” commented Dong Wu, President of Huawei Enterprise Middle East. “From digital pipeline solutions to mobile data centers, Huawei’s smart-oilfield innovations are aligned to enhance business operations for Oil and Gas operators to share real-time information, and remain constantly connected, monitored and in-control, mitigating risks in a work environment.”
Delivering on this vision, Huawei will be previewing its expanded portfolio of smart pipe technologies along with a number of case studies highlighting best practice for the local industry.
With a focus on Health and safety, Huawei’s latest solutions to run Emergency Command Centers support multiple terminals from Tetra, UHF (Ultra High Frequency), VHF (Very High Frequency), CCTV (Close Circuit Television), Smart Phones, Pads, Laptops, Desktop, providing seamless connectivity to both voice and video services and an Unified Alert and dispatch system. In this way, field ERT (Emergency Response Teams) are able to quickly respond to incidents before it reaches a critical state. Team members are able to flag any emergencies and make critical judgments in time.
Smart oil fields will also be addressed at the event highlighting the move towards an even more reliable and secure IT network infrastructure to support the heavy demands of the oil and gas industry. Offering networking solutions from wired networks, industrial level switches, routers to wireless networks like wifi and microwaves, Huawei’s team of qualified consultants will present a number of real case scenarios where smart oil fields are already rolled out in the region and across the globe today
Huawei will give particular emphasis to the latest series of all-in-one Container Data Center solution, a mobile data center solution assisting oil and gas companies to address challenges in the Big Data era, suited for both outdoor and indoor environments in extreme temperature conditions.
Continued demand for energy has meant an expansion into unconventional sources, unfamiliar environments and unknown territories. This has led to a focus on the ability of oil & gas companies to remain agile and flexible to harness this potential, while keeping costs contained and energy assets secure. Many executives now recognize the major opportunities integrating ICT technologies to create “smart” oil and gas fields that merge digital production and security controls, provide secure and reliable transportation networks, and deliver comprehensive communication applications.
Huawei has been at the forefront of driving ICT applications in the region’s oil and gas sector with successful regional deployments including a Cluster Communications solution for a major Oilfield in Iraq, providing a secure unified communication system.
The company has also supported Saudi Aramco’s Alarm & Conference project which integrated a disaster recovery alerts and conference systems offering enhanced reliability and reduced costs. Other projects in the region include the upgrade of Saudi Aramco’s networks, involving a communications convergence solution integrating voice, data and conference services across multiple sites. The implementation has helped to reduce costs and improve productivity.
Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) have previously estimated that state-of-the art digital oilfields could expand global oil reserves by 125 billion barrels by 2013, and reduce costs by 10% to 25%.
Huawei’s full breadth of oil and gas solutions will be on display at the exhibition’s stand located in Hall 12, Stand 12334.
