Huawei and VISIONTECH Bring Wireless Connectivity for 2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club

Huawei and VISIONTECH INTERNATIONAL deployed WiFi services in record time ahead of international event

Mobilk - Huawei—a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider in partnership with VISIONTECH INTERNATIONAL announced today a successful Wireless Network deployment for ‘golf in DUBAi, which brought seamless WiFi connectivity to the ‘2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic’ Golf Tournament for the first time. 

‘golf in DUBAi’, organizers of international golf tournaments, have faced significant challenges with arranging for WiFi (WLAN) deployments that offered their guests full internet connectivity while attending their golf tournaments. When planning for the launch of the 2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club, the WiFi capabilities were limited to specific areas and could only accommodate up to 12 people at a time.

In partnership with VISIONTECH INTERNATIONAL, a WLAN wireless solution that expanded the wireless connectivity zones across the entire golf course was identified, allowing up to 2,000 users at any one time and offering a service to the players, sponsors and guests that had never been available before. Huawei supplied an extensive range of wireless products in order to develop this WLAN Network, including multiple Access Points, Controller and Access Switches and Router Switches. 

Eddy Wen, Director of Huawei Enterprise, UAE said: “Wireless technology is already an adopted standard for many industries in the UAE, especially within the hospitality industry. Connecting a whole golf course presented a challenge due to the size of the area that needed to be covered. By working with VISIONTECH INTERNATIONAL, we identified that by deploying a WLAN solution at various points around the course, we could offer full internet coverage and the amount of users at the tournament.”

As a result of the quick assessment and effective deployment, the solution was able to be implemented and deployed within 48 hours prior to the Golf event, offering full connectivity services to the thousands of guests of the 2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
