the S5050 and B5702 from samsung plus seven more handsets leak earlier

Photos of as many as nine new and yet unannounced Samsung handsets leaked online. That seems to be the entire low- and mid-end part of the portfolio of the company for the first half of the year. Some pretty nice designs are to be seen here as well as a couple of dual SIM handsets and one with an OLED display.

The slider Samsung S5050 is surely the one that grabbed our attention. Sporting a 3.2 megapixel camera and touch-sensitive keys below the display it is the first mid-range handset to feature a 2.2" OLED display.

Some of the other features of the device include LED flash, FM radio with RDS as well as Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity. The internal memory is 50 MB, expandable through the microSD card slot. The bad news is that the handset has no 3G, relying only on GPRS and EDGE for its network data transfers.

The other interesting new model is Samsung B5702 which makes its second public appearance after yesterdays leak. The stylish dual SIM handset features a 3.2 megapixel camera and again comes in the slider form factor. It is equipped with a 2.4" 262K color QVGA display, FM radio and microSD card slot.

The connectivity options of the Samsung B5702 include Bluetooth v2.0 and USB v2.0 as well as quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. It is worth noting that this is the first quad-band dual SIM handset by Samsung so roaming worldwide is definately an option now. The dual SIM support is well provided for by the 1200 mAh battery, which guarantees some nice battery life.

Samsung C5212 is the simplest dual SIM offering by the Korean company to date. It comes with the modest 2.2-inch 262K color display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. The internal memory of the handset is 40 MB, but can be expanded by up to 4GB through the built-in microSD card slot.

Some of the other features of Samsung C5212 include Bluetooth, USB and a 1.3 megapixel camera. The handset only supports GPRS and EDGE for network data transfers.

Samsung S3310 is another lower midrange handset which will try to impress you with a 2.1-inch 16M color QVGA display, FM radio and a 2 megapixel camera.

Standing at 99.9 x 48 x 13.9 mm, the bar-shaped Samsung S3310 also has Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0 connectivity. Its final noteworthy feature is the microSD card slot which allows expanding the built-in memory of 30 MB.

Samsung E2210 is the only clamshell from the bunch. Its main display offers a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels displaying up to 262K colors and having a diagonal of 1.77 inches. There is also a secondary external display but there are no details about it yet.

Sporting quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE Samsung E2210 comes with a VGA snapper and measures 94 x 46.5 x 18.5 mm. The handset even lacks Bluetooth, leaving USB connectivity as your only option for connecting it to your PC.

The entry-level slider Samsung E1360 sports a 1.77" 65K color CSTN display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. It features dual-band (900/1800 MHz) GSM support and virtually no other noteworthy functionality.

Samsung E1210 and Samsung E1125 are two ultra-basic bar-shaped handsets that come with FM radio as their key selling point. They both sports dual-band (900/1800 MHz) GSM connectivity and 65K color CSTN displays. Samsung E1210 has a 1.77" screen with a resolution of 120 x 160 pixels, while the E1125 goes as low as 1.52 inches and 128 x 128 pixels.

Samsung E1210 supports network data transfers through GPRS only, which is still better than the E1125 that has no wireless data transfer support of any kind (except WAP perhaps).

The final model in todays major South Korean leak is Samsung E1100. The most basic of all, the E1100 has a 1.53" display and dual-band GSM support as well as a phonebook for up to 200 contacts.

There is no information about the availability or the pricing of any of the handsets but we guess they cannot take too long to appear on the market.

It is quite clear that Samsung are taking the emerging markets quite seriously, challenging Nokias reign there. Who knows - if they get the pricing of those new offerings right the scales might just tip in their favor.
