Wataniya Sponsors First Ice Hockey Gulf Cup

Prompted from its devotion to support the athletic field, Wataniya Telecom is sponsoring the first Ice Hockey Gulf Cup taking place in Kuwait from May 25th to May 31, 2010 at the Ice Rink. 

Wataniya's interest in sponsoring the Ice Hockey Gulf Cup comes from its drive to support all athletic activities and tournaments. Regarding the Ice Hockey Gulf Cup sponsorship Abdol Aziz Al Balool PR Manager at Wataniya said: "We have been exploring news ways in supporting and encouraging athletic activities. Ice Hockey is a sport that is not very popular in Kuwait so we aim to educate people more about it and attract youth to take part in challenging sports and always explore different fields."

Bringing teams together from different GCC countries such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain the Ice Hockey Gulf Cup will enjoy the presence of the Vice President of Ice Hockey National Union, a representative of the Asian Union and in addition to prominent athletic figures and presidents of different clubs.

From his end Waleed al-Saqobi, Ice Hockey Gulf Cup General Coordinator expressed his appreciation to Wataniya's contribution and sponsorship saying: "Wataniya's sponsorship proves its commitment to support sports in Kuwait and the GCC and promote unpopular sports to gain more importance among people. We would like to thank Wataniya for their ongoing great efforts and interest in the Ice Hockey Gulf Cup."
