Mobilk - The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai is participating in Gitex Shopper 2012, the largest consumer electronics retail platform in the region, to directly interact with consumers and build awareness on consumer protection. The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector of DED has set up a stand at Gitex Shopper to respond to consumer queries and educate them on their rights and responsibilities as well as the future projects of CCCP.
The Gitex participation is in line with DEDs commitment to strengthen consumer outreach while promoting awareness on their rights and providing high quality products and services. It also aims to strengthen the relationship between the merchant and the consumer and thus enhance retail sector performance in Dubai and the UAE.
"Gitex Shopper is an ideal platform to connect with consumers as it attracts people across the UAE and the region for eight days. Representatives from DEDs Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection sector are present at the stand to receive complaints and suggestions directly from consumers, distribute brochures, leaflets and posters related to consumer rights, and provide guidance with respect to selling and buying as well as refund and exchange policies," said Omar Bushahab, CEO, CCCP.
Bushahab added that the CCCP team at the stand will explain to consumers about future projects and the final design and whereabouts of the Mobile Vehicle, which provides education and counsel to consumers, and receives their complaints. The team will also provide updates on the second version of the Blue Book, which will include an additional chapter on the commercial sector.
Bushahab stressed DEDs continues efforts to communicate with consumers across all possible channels, and thus strengthen customer satisfaction and loyalty. "Our participation in Gitex Shopper reaffirms DEDs policy of transparency in dealing with consumers, and demonstrates our focus on upholding the highest standards in the retail sector - a backbone of Dubais economy. It will also strengthen consumer confidence, eventually boosting market competitiveness."
DED recently announced the launch of the first of its kind Dubai World Conference on Consumer Rights and Power Brands exhibition, which will be held from 1-3 April, 2013 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, with the support of Dubai Refreshment Company and Al Fajer Information & Services.
To register complaints with DED, consumers can call Ahlan Dubai on +971 600 545555.
