TRA Sponsors The Internet & Mobile Show

Mobilk - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announces its official sponsorship of The Internet and The Mobile Show 2012, two high profile and anticipated events for the ICT sector, set to take place on April 17-18 at Madinat Arena in Dubai. This is the TRA’s second year participating as the official government sponsor.

 

Reiterating the commitment that the TRA has for the mobile and internet sectors in the ICT industry represented by these two parallel exhibitions and conferences, H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of the TRA, commented, “The TRA’s sponsorship of the Internet and the Mobile Show reaffirms its commitment towards ICT development in the nation; these events describe the direction that the TRA aims to steer the UAE ICT industry in terms of competiveness, security, accessibility, sophistication of services, and a host of other mobile and internet related advances for the UAE community.”

 

“The TRA’s discretion in choosing events for sponsorships relies upon the fundamental principles of benefit to society, economic advantage for the country, and the objective to maintain the UAE’s leading regional position with regard to the ICT infrastructure, services, and security. With this in mind, it is impossible to ignore the staggering statistics that illustrate the sheer magnitude that these industries have on today’s world:  the number of worldwide mobile connections was 5.6 billion in 2011 and is expected to grow to 7.4 billion by end of 2015; the total worldwide mobile data revenues exceeded $315 billion in 2011 and is expected to grow to $552 billion by the end of 2015; 35 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute; and 294 billion emails are sent on a daily basis,” H.E. Al Ghanim added.          

 

The events’ attendees will be able to view a presentation by the aeDA of the TRA titled: New Generic Top Level Domain Innovations and Opportunities, which will be delivered by Mr. Mohammad Al Zarooni, Director of the .ae Domain Administration. The project addresses the TRA’s application and operation of the new Top-Level Domain under the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers program to expand the webs addressing system.

 

The Internet Show is the only internet related business event in the Middle East. Currently in its third year, the exhibition and conference attracts over 1,500 attendees from approximately 30 nations, with a diverse group of high profile speakers, and extends many awards to participants during the event. 

 

The show will encompass business related topics such as: how to effectively market and advertise online, build a community around the corporate brand, use social media to further business development, and generate sales from the company website in addition to many other solutions to build and grow businesses.  The show will host a number of topics through conferences and seminars including, digital advertising and marketing, cloud computing, content management and streaming, and e-commerce and payments among other topics. 

 

Running in tandem to the Internet Show is the Mobile Show, which is reputed to be the Middle East’s largest show for mobile technology, mobile applications, and solutions.  This show is heavily attended by industry leaders and decision makers and successful enterprises displaying its latest innovations, and to discuss the future of the mobile ecosystem with regard to commerce, advertising, applications, entertainment and health in addition to many other facets.

 

Through its sponsorship of this event the TRA cements its strategic objective to maintain its leading regional position and furthers its international standing with regard to the ICT industry.
