Mobilk - Muscat,Oman – The second phase of the Nawras Goodwill Journey 7 has reached its final destination in Salalah, after an extensive three-day trip. Earlier in the week the Nawras convoy began travelling from Muscat to Salalah, visiting various associations and charity organisations along the way.

During their visit to Salalah, the Nawras team visited the Omani Women’s Association in Wilyat Sadah, which was the convoy’s final destination.  The Nawras volunteers showed their support by donating various goods to the Omani Women’s Association, including internet modems, furniture and electrical goods. In addition, the association also received children’s toys and school bags.

Laila Ali Al Amri, Head of the Omani Women’s Association said, "We are very happy and glad that Nawras have come and given us the things we need. The electrical goods, especially the projectors, are the most beneficial thing because the association doesn’t have any. I would like to thank Nawras and the Nawras Goodwill Journey on behalf of myself and the association."

Talking to the media Khalid bin Ali Al Zadjali, Leader of the Nawras Goodwill Journey, said, "Today is the last day and whilst it’s sad that everybody will be going home, there is a great feeling of happiness knowing that we have done the things we were supposed to do. It’s an achievement!"

He added, "I think it will create a big mark and a big change, especially in people’s minds when they remember the things that we have donated. Whether it’s educational, electronic or even some home related items, these things develop and improve their lives to make it better is some way."

Undoubtedly touching the lives of many, smiles of appreciation were etched on people’s faces. "The wonderful thing here is that we are so close to the people and the children, with all the games and activities we play, so we can find out more about them, understand their needs to better assist them. When I see a smile on a child’s face it’s a good thing because I know that we have given them something special," said Abdul Aziz Al Haddabi, Directorate General for Scouts and Guides.

The team of scouts, brought along by Nawras, joined the team in organising various different games and activities. "This is the first time that I’m attending the Nawras Goodwill Journey and I have spent a wonderful time working with the team. In the Holy month of Ramadan people are close together, and this is what Omani people are all about," said Haddabi.

Nawras has taken a very hands-on approach to show their support and get involved in society. For the seventh consecutive year their generosity has been spread far and wide, reaching various different groups and improving the lives of many across the Sultanate.

The second phase of the journey was launched earlier this week on August 20 2011, from the Nawras main office in Athaiba. Prior to visiting Sadah, the Nawras convoy also showed their support to the Omani Women’s Association in Al Mudhibi, Maserah and Haima.

The first phase of the journey began on August 13 2011 and was launched at the Children Care Centre in Al Khoud. The Nawras team travelled to Al Nahdha, Wadi Al Ma’awel, Sohar, Saham, Musandam, Boukha, Ibri, Yanqul before ending their journey in Izki.

Annually and with caring hearts, the fasting Nawras volunteers travel thousands of kilometres during the Holy Month of Ramadan with the aim of making lives a little easier for those who are in need of help. Nawras also takes time to understand and offer support and heartfelt appreciation to the numerous people whose devoted work is dedicated to running charitable programmes on a year-round basis.
