Etisalat and Huawei Reaffirm Commitment to Enhance Customer Experience

Companies sign memorandum to enrich user experience through joint research

Mobilk - Etisalat, the UAE’s leading telecommunication operator and Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, announced today the signing of a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on joint research initiatives aimed at enhancing the user experience for Etisalat’s customers in UAE. 

The MoU was signed during the Mobile World Congress, one of the world’s top exhibitions for the mobile industry, held in Barcelona, Spain. 

The MoU outlines the commitment of both the companies to expand their joint research efforts focusing on full-scale network transformation that helps improve user experience. On the network front, the memorandum will look specifically at new and innovative technologies for ICT domains such as 3CC Carrier Aggregation, 4K Video, 1Gbps @home, VoWifi and Cloud Computing technology. In addition, joint innovation initiatives will trial new functions and applications based on software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) principles.

Commenting on the MoU signing, Mr. Jason Li, President of the Joint Committee of Regions, Huawei, said: “With an emphasis on customer-centric innovation, we look forward to this expanded scope of R&D activities and making it possible for Etisalat customers to enjoy even better service experiences wherever they are.”

Etisalat and Huawei have worked on numerous landmark projects in the Middle East telecommunications sector over the last 10 years. The two companies had previously collaborated on the rollout of Etisalat’s 4G LTE mobile networks.
