Mobilk - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) commemorated Martyrs Day, which falls on November 30, by holding a special ceremony for this dear memory at TRA Abu Dhabi and Dubai headquarters, with the participation of TRA staff.
The commemoration of Martyrs Day included flying the flags at half-mast at 8 am and a minute of silence at 11:30 am, followed by a ceremony to raise the flag of the UAE accompanied by the national anthem.
On this occasion, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, said: "Today, we honour a dear memory to our hearts, the memory of men who fulfill what they have pledged to Allah, and were truthful to us and the nation when they gave their lives to maintain the nations pride, protect its land and defend its sovereignty. These men put their lives on the line and stood tall in defense of the dignity and pride of the nation. They made a great sacrifice and showed the whole world the meaning of generosity and giving. They were beacons of pride and glory that will guide us and future generations, and here I recall the words of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, when he said: "Our country will never forget those who sacrificed their lives to protect it. Our martyrs will always be a source of pride and a beacon for generations to come, and their families and children will receive all due care and attention from the country and society."
His Excellency stressed that the UAE, with its leadership and people, is proud of its martyrs, adding: "The sacrifices made by our martyrs are not uncommon to the people of the UAE, who have sworn to their leadership to keep fighting for the sake of this nation. On this precious occasion, we renew our pledge to our wise leadership to remain the loyal servants of the nation defending its sovereignty and seeking to maintain its pride and dignity in times of peace and war, each within our sphere of competence."
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared that 30th November of each year would be Commemoration Day, in recognition of the sacrifices the UAEs martyrs gave to perform their duties to the homeland and keeping the UAE flag high.
