Saleh Al-Abdooli chief executive officer of Etisalat said that Etisalat could have installed used equipment that would be upgraded and have new services added thereto, including the 3G mobile services but decided against that. Etisalat, instead, has been keen to install a state-of-the-art network to provide the best and most advanced services to Egyptian subscribers.
Dr. Amr Badawy, the Executive President of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, stated lately in press statements that the high technology used by Etisalat enabled it to launch the 3rd mobile operator in the shortest period of time. He added that Etisalat’’s network has not been subject to the failures which other networks faced. Etisalat’s network has been able to encompass a large number of new subscribers. Telecom experts also said that the roll-out and design of Etisalat’s network as per the most advanced capabilities made it capable to endure a large number of subscribers without any failures.
Also, Eng. Haytham Abd El-Razek, the Chief technical officer of Etisalat said that the use of the most advanced technologies made Etisalat’s network installation take place at higher rates than was expected. This stresses the fact that the strength of Etisalat network made it ready to provide mobile number portability regardless of the number of subscribers willing to transfer.
He also emphasized the fact that Etisalat’s network has been witnessing continual expansion in order to cover all the Egyptian governorates by the end of 2008. It will cover both populated and unpopulated areas. In addition, network coverage will be consolidated in the areas already covered by Etisalat so that the subscribers are not exposed to any troubles and failures.
