  • Ooredoo Wave 7 Springboard Programme Heats Up

Mobilk - Over 200 women are halfway to being empowered through Wave 7 of the Springboard programme, organised by Ooredoo in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, The British Council and the Ministry of Civil Services. Women from different organisations will compete in groups to develop ideas related to their professional field through digital means, applying the essential skills and training they have gained to date. The programme aims to enhance the capabilities of Omani women in order for them achieve greater professional recognition by developing their potential.

Raed Mohammed Dawood, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, said, “Omani women make a vital contribution to the Sultanate’s workforce and economy which is why we designed this programme; to develop and challenge ambitious women so that they can make a real impact in their professional lives. Ooredoo has successfully seen over 1000 graduates and participants succeed to get their business ideas off the ground with the power of technology. We are looking forward to the unveiling of each team’s project at the upcoming graduation and are always impressed by their creativity and entrepreneurism. We have no doubt that each participant will gain valuable work skills that can be successfully applied in all aspects of their lives”.

Developed by women for women, the programme’s Certified Springboard Trainer Ayesha Al Shoily, who coaches and mentors the women, provides them with dedicated support in creating their digital projects.  Covering a range of industries including, lifestyle, education, environment and tourism, once completed each team’s digital project will be posted on Ooredoo’s social media channels for the public to select which they think is the best. An expert committee of judges will carefully assess each entry showcased on graduation day, picking the top three winning teams.

Safaa Al Balushi, Team Leader of ‘I Build’ project which won the first place on wave 6 said, “This project has brought out our competitive streak as we try to outsmart each team with our most digitally innovative concept. Our shared determination is what helps us to create something that could make a real difference. I am very grateful for all of the support the Ooredoo staff have provided and for the important skills and training I have learnt so far. I look forward to implementing these new value-added skill-sets to enhance my workplace into a highly productive and efficient environment.

Globally recognised and introduced to over 175,000 women in over 22 countries, the Springboard programme was created with the belief that every woman has untapped potential, which can be developed for the fulfilment of the individual, their employers and local communities. Empowering them to harness their talents and live healthier, happier and more productive lives.
