TRA Honours Its Strategic Partners

Mobilk - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has honoured today Wednesday 11 October 2017, the strategic partners from government entities and private sector, during its participation in GITEXT Technology Week 2017, in recognition of the partners’ role in achieving the UAE’s strategic goals, its Vision 2021, in the field of smart transformation, leadership in ICT, improving public services, enhancing integration in achieving goals, and reaching the top international position.

The honouring ceremony begun with the opening speech of H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, in which he expressed his appreciation to all partners and entities that supported the TRA in enhancing the UAE international presence. He emphasized on the importance of partnership and integration to achieve the vision and objectives of the UAE in global leadership, happiness and welfare of the UAE society, quoting H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai in his statement ‘One plus one does not equal two but equals 11’.

H.E. Al Mansoori said during the ceremony: ‘I hope that TRA has contributed equally to the achievement of your goals, because we believe that partnership is a two-way relationship, represents the spirit of cooperation to achieve noble goals that benefit all parties, and ultimately reflects on our beloved country.’

H.E. Al Mansoori added: ‘This year has been very busy, and your active presence has had a clear impact on incorporating the spirit of the unified team that has distinguished the UAE since its establishment at the hands of the founding fathers, to our wise leadership, headed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.  The upcoming missions are difficult and strategic. The directives set by our wise leadership for the coming period require everyone to intensify efforts, increase coordination and enhance partnership between different sectors.’

H.E. Al Mansoori emphasised that the country has succeeded in all challenges it has faced, and that everyone should continue with the same challenging spirit, and the team spirit, to make a future worthy to the UAE, its people and leadership that has always supported us. 

H.E. Noura Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Women’s Union, said: ‘We are proud to have been honoured by TRA, which has the best impact on strengthening the partnership with TRA to achieve the UAE Vision 20201, and support the achievement of TRA’s strategic plan.’

She said in a statement on this occasion: ‘Receiving this honour is based on the great effort of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, which she has long been providing, in order to create opportunities for the UAE woman, and remove all obstacles that hinder her progress and recognition of her rights.’

H.E. Al Suwaidi indicated that honouring the General Women’s Union is a source of pride to every woman in the country, pointing out that the Union has worked under the guidance and great support of H.H. the Mother of the Nation, to empower women in the field of technology to become an active member with her brother in the building process.’ 

During the ceremony, the TRA has honoured the partners from government entities that have advanced in the process of smart transformation, in addition to the private sector companies, operators, ICT companies and others, whose cooperation had a clear impact on the success of the TRA strategic plans in achieving the country’s global leadership in ICT field, and achieving its vision that the UAE is a world leader in ICT.

Moreover, the TRA has presented during its participation in GITEX Technology Week under the mGovernment umbrella, 14 innovative projects that enhance the position of the country and its leadership in the field of smart transformation. The projects also confirm the role of ICT sector in supporting the government efforts in providing advanced services, achieving customer happiness and facilitating the smart transformation of the other sectors within a smart, secure and advanced cyberspace, as well as an active infrastructure, capable of meeting the needs of the next phase, and facing the challenges, as it is considered the vital nerve of the other sectors, to improve the quality of life in the society.

GITEX is an important global platform to showcase the latest innovations in ICT, as the region’s largest technology platform to exchange experiences, hold partnerships and learn about the sector’s latest innovations and outputs.
