Mr. Eskander Shalaby Chairman of the Mobinil

The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (Mobinil)'s Board of Directors on Thursday, August 21st 2008 promoted Mr. Eskander Shalaby to Chairman of the company effective September 1st 2008.

Mr. Shalaby, who is replacing Mr. Naguib Sawiris as ECMS (Mobinil) Chairman, was selected for his remarkable achievements at Mobinil over the past 3 years, with the company maintaining its position in the market as Egypt's leading mobile operator, its profits increased by 22%, in addition to reaching the milestone of 18 million subscribers. Mr. Hassan Kabbani was appointed by the board as Mobinil's President & CEO replacing Mr. Eskander Shalaby, also effective September 1 2008.

Both of these changes in the leadership of ECMS - (Mobinil) are subject to ratification of the ECMS General Assembly Meeting, which is scheduled to take place on August 31st 2008.

Mr. Hassan Kabbani assumed the position of CEO of " Djezzy", the subsidiary of Orascom Telecom in Algeria, from October 2003 until August 2008. During his five year tenure with Djezzy, the company has become the leading mobile operator in Algeria and a model of success in the Algerian corporate community. Mr. Kabbani has 18 years of experience in the telecommunications industry across the Middle East and Africa. Having worked with France Telecom for a number of years, he joined Orascom Telecom Group in 1998. He served as Mobinil's Commercial Director during the period 1998 / 1999.

On this occasion Mr. Naguib Sawiris expressed his pleasure and honor for chairing ECMS for the past 10 years. He reiterated his confidence in the new leadership team, noting that he will remain as a member in the company's board. Mr. Sawiris also wished further success for Mr. Shalaby & Mr. Kabbani in pursuing their new positions and in maintaining Mobinil's leading position in the market.
