Orange Jordan launches Voice over Internet Protocol via Business Internet Voice

Orange, the sole integrated telecom operator in the kingdom, has launched Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) via Business Internet Voice, a first-of-its-kind service in Jordan tailored for the private and public sectors.

Business Internet Voice allows the subscriber to simultaneously make phone calls using VoIP technology and surf the Internet using different speeds.

This unprecedented service was announced during a press conference headed by Ms. Nayla Khawam, Acting CEO of Jordan Telecom Group (JTG), and Mr. Sami Smeirat, Vice President / Chief Executive Officer of the Enterprise Business Unit at the Group.

The subscriber in this service will be given a non-geographical number that starts with 08778 enabling him/her to talk within his/her VoIP area in addition to outside of it on local, national, and international fixed line network as well as mobile line. Business LiveBox device, which transmits voice and data thus replacing the need for a router, will be placed in the office or company of the subscriber.

Ms. Khawam pointed out the importance of introducing such service in the Jordanian market highlighting the integrated telecom solutions it provides for the business sector accompanied with the competitive prices.

She went on saying that Orange's strategy is based on providing integrated and user-friendly services to all its subscribers, utilizing the expertise of the mother company, France Telecom. "This new ground-breaking service in the local telecom sector will effectively contribute in developing the telecom market in the Kingdom, and will widen the work scope of different sectors, whether be private of public, as well as open new horizons that will let them achieve more in less time," she added.

For his part, Mr. Smeirat said: "The idea of providing VoIP for institutions, which is launched for the first time in the Jordanian telecom market, comes to shed light on Orange Jordan's keenness through its Enterprise department to study the needs of various private and public organizations operating in the Kingdom, and provide offers and services that meet such needs. Stemming from this, VoIP service was launched to facilitate, widen and improve the businesses of these institutions with the least costs possible, thus contributing in developing the Internet culture in the society complying with the Royal directions."

Business Internet Voice comes in 3 packages, 512 kb/second, 1 mega and 2 mega. The subscriber will receive all the services, such as customer care, billing and installation, through one contact, and will benefit from micro PBX functionality for site with no PBX, up to four extensions.

Furthermore and through this service, subscribers will optimize their telecom cost by benefiting from free phone calls to Orange Business Internet Voice subscribers, reduced tariffs on international calls compared with the fixed line international tariffs, where the prices start from 8 piasters per minute. Moreover, subscribers can call mobile lines for 4

piasters per minute as well as call local and national fixed lines with reduced tariffs reaching to 1.1 piaster per minute.
