Motor sport enthusiasts can satisfy their hunger for speed this Friday with the kick-off of a new season of Batelco’s 2000cc Challenge. The race, held at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), features up and coming local racers and runs from of October 2nd to May 14th, 2010.
Drivers are allowed to set up their own cars, as long as they adhere to stringent safety regulations and strict racing specifications.

The Batelco 2000cc Challenge, now in its third season, is a great opportunity for promising drivers to hone their skills and advance further in the world of automotive sports. Batelco’s support for the event stems from the company’s recognition of the importance of sports and its commitment to its development.
“Batelco have been a fantastic partner to Bahrain International Circuit and a great supporter of many of our events through the years,” said Bahrain International Circuit Chief Operating Officer Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Bahrain Motor Federation President Sheikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa also took the time to “thank Batelco for their sponsorship of the 2,000cc Challenge for yet another season. The success of this locally bred championship would not be possible without them.”
He added that Batelco’s “contributions help promote Bahraini motorsport and contribute to its further development both in the Kingdom and the rest of the region.”
Batelco’s Chief Executive Bahrain, Gert Rieder, stated that “Bahrain is now the heart of automotive sport in the Middle East”.
