Batelco, as part of its social responsibility programme, recently supported the Friendship Society for the Blind Workshop & Conference. The event, which took place at the Bahrain Engineering Society under the patronage of Minister of Social Development Fatima Al Balooshi, was held to address the issues facing sight impaired people.
The Conference looked at ways to better integrate sight impaired people into the community by educating the general population so that they accept those with disabilities. By educating the public, the event organisers hope to improve the lifestyle of those with disabilities, allowing them to be accepted in the same way as able bodied people and take part in regular activities including paid employment.
"As a successful enterprise with deep roots in Bahraini society, we are committed to supporting such worthy causes as The Friendship Society for the Blind. Their tireless efforts bring awareness of the plight of sight impaired people to the general public," said Batelco General Manager Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.
Shaikh Ahmed Al Khalifa, former president of the Friendship Society of the Blind presented an award to Batelco at the event, to thank the Company for its ongoing support in furthering the societies' aims.
