ZAIN SA The main sponsor of smart cities conference 2009 in Mecca

ZAIN" KSA declared its main sponsorship of "Smart Cities Conference 2009- Applications for Mecca" which to be held from 22 to 23 Muharram 1430H, under the sponsorship of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Governor of Mecca, and by the organization of the secretariat of the Holy Capital through cooperation with the Institute of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Pilgrimage Research and the Communications and Information Technology Commission, in the King Abdul-Aziz Hall, Umm Al-Qura University in Alabdyah, Mecca.

The conference, which will start under the slogan of "applications for Mecca", is the most prominent specialized event on the applications of smart cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which aims at accelerating the application of the latest techniques of smart cities and benefiting from their advantages to contribute to supporting and upgrading IT industry as being one of the pillars of the national economy that contributes to the transformation of Saudi society into a society of digital economy and knowledge and enabling it to keep pace with the evolving societies.
 
The organization of "Applications for Mecca" Conference comes within the framework of efforts exerted for upgrading the Holy City services level and increasing their efficiency for the pilgrims so that they can perform their religious duties and rituals easily and safely through exploiting all the possibilities and benefiting from expertise in making the Holy Capital a model city characterized by modernity and novelty
among the Islamic world cities.

In this respect, Dr. Marwan Al Ahmadi, chief executive officer of "ZAIN KSA” confirmed that the activation of smart cities in the Kingdom is one of the fundamental pillars and the strategic steps aiming at pushing the national economy wheel forward and bringing it into the ranks of the world's advanced economies in this field, especially in areas characterized by high level of importance and special status like the Holy Capital as being Muslims’ Kibla and first destination in all times in general, and in pilgrimage season in particular. He pointed out that ZAIN role in promoting the events that support the directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques government, and keep pace with its blessed efforts, is only one of the national contribution patterns and the pictures of national institutional coexistence within the community, which ZAIN KSA is always keen to reflected as part of the Saudi Arabian integral texture.

Ahmadi added: supporting and backing the ideas,  meetings and programs aiming at improving the technology quality and increasing its effectiveness, are one of the precious opportunities that ZAIN is keen to exploit to achieve its sincere desire to play its honorable national role.

The discussion of this conference will be based upon three main axes: first, Smart Cities axis where the focus will be on the local and global latest developments, the best practices and successful applications in the field of new and current smart cities. Second, smart buildings axis and it tackles the latest global developments and best practices in the field of smart buildings and houses in addition to residential neighborhoods, commercial centers and smart public places. Third, the axis of Mecca requirements, and it discusses the necessary requirements  and applications of Mecca, which combine the techniques of smart buildings and cities and the characteristics and needs of the Holy City.

It is said that ZAIN KSA pays special attention to conferences, meetings and discussion programs in accordance with its strategy as the company has sponsored Abha Forum on Administrative Development, which aims at simplifying the procedures and explaining its role in enhancing the efficiency and quality, reducing costs and increasing awareness with and interest in e-services in addition to co-sponsoring the symposium on "Rehabilitating the Deaf for Labor Market" organized by the Development Center in Saudi Association for Hearing Impairment under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs Abdul-Mohsen Alakas and His Excellency the Minister of Labor Dr. Ghazi Algosaibi. Also the company sponsored the fifth annual meeting of Saudi Society of Civil Engineering, which came under the slogan "The Infrastructure: Prospects and Aspirations."
