Etisalat launches BlackBerry® Internet Service (BIS) for individual customers

Etisalat today announced that the BlackBerry® Pearl, which is the latest Blackberry® device, will be exclusively available at 15 Etisalat Business Centres located around the UAE. The Blackberry® Pearl handset is priced at AED 2,200.

The company also announced the launch of BlackBerry® Internet Service (BIS) for individual customers. The BlackBerry® Internet Edition packages are priced at AED 185 (Domestic Unlimited) and AED 295 per month (Global Unlimited). BlackBerry® Internet Service (BIS) is available to all Etisalat GSM postpaid* customers having a BlackBerry handset by sending ‘r bis185’ or ‘r bis295’ as SMS to 1010.

BlackBerry® Pearl is one of the world’s smallest smart phones.  It has a sleek and stylish design and comes complete with digital camera with built-in flash and 5x digital zoom, multimedia capabilities and 64 MB of expandable memory via microSD card. The Pearl device also supports email, web browser, local maps, instant messaging, text messaging (SMS and MMS), organiser applications and more. The BlackBerry® Pearl provides Quad-Band network support on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS and EDGE networks to allow for international roaming globally, including North America

The AED 185 flat monthly fee includes Web browsing on the Blackberry device, Instant Messaging and Push Email activities conducted in that month. For consumers who travel abroad regularly, Etisalat offers an extended service at AED 295, which covers all data charges while roaming abroad.

The BlackBerry® Internet Service (BIS) enables users to access up to 10 personal email accounts (EIM, Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, Yahoo and others) from a single device. With this service, adding new email accounts is quick and easy, and users can select unique "sent from" addresses, auto-signatures, filters and friendly names.

In addition, BlackBerry® Internet Service supports the viewing of popular email attachment formats including JPEG, BMP, TIFF, Microsoft® Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Corel™ WordPerfect and Adobe® PDF.
