Qtel announced today that the number of mobile phone customers in Qatar has reached the 1.4 million mark. The milestone of over 1.4 million was achieved in early March 2008 and has been driven by the extraordinary customer response to Qtel’s recent promotions, particularly the current ‘Hala Line for Free’ campaign.
“This latest success is a ringing endorsement and a reflection of Qtel’s recent focus on providing value for money,” said Sheikh Fahad Bin Jassim Al Thani, Qtel’s Chief Operating Officer. “We’re committed to developing ways to reward our customers with new offers and promotions that add value to our wireless services and we’re delighted with the enthusiasm with which our customers have responded”.
The current Hala campaign which offers customers the opportunity to obtain a free SIM card with no sign up charges - other than the need to purchase QR 50 of call credit - is the latest in a long line of promotions. Other recent initiatives include the Qtel ‘Residential Package’ whereby customers can secure a significant annual cost saving by putting all of their Qtel services under one account. Another is the ‘One year Postpaid Subscription’ where customers pay an annual fee at a discount instead of the regular monthly postpaid fee.
Above and beyond the recent promotions, Qtel also contributes some of its success to increasing the number and quality of its retail outlets. Representatives of the company have also visited remote areas of the country in order to bring its products and services closer to those customers who are not in a position to readily visit Qtel’s shops.
