Qtel signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Public Relations Association

Qtel today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) – Gulf Chapter, a branch of the IPRA body located in Britain. The MOU was signed by Sheikh Fahad Bin Jassim Al Thani, COO-Qtel, and Mr Hassan Al Hassan, Chairman of IPRA on Thursday, October 25, 2007.

“True to our motto ‘Let’s Connect’, Qtel is all about clarity and ease of communication. We look forward to liaising with IPRA and holding more international events in Qatar,“ said Sheikh Fahad Bin Jassim Al Thani, COO-Qtel.

According to the agreement, Qtel will sponsor certain activities of the Gulf Chapter of IPRA in Qatar, including hosting the upcoming board meeting for the GCC countries in December 2007. Qtel will also host a series of eight TV programs titled, ‘An Hour with an Expert’ at the Qtel Tower Headquarters, West Bay.

Qtel will also organize and host lectures for six training courses on Public Relations conducted through the year in Qatar, in collaboration with the Training Centre of Al Sharq Printing, for members of the Arab and International Public Relations Association in Qatar, and others. Four of Qtel employees will also be trained and certified in the courses.

"The Association will work on developing and enriching the Public Relations domain and clarifying its concept especially at a time when there is a pressing need for it and bringing our Gulf States to the forefront,” said Mr. Hassan Al Hassan, Chairman-IPRA.

The IPRA vision emerges from publishing its practical and theoretical objectives in the Gulf region, aiming for recognition to the field of Public Relations in Qatar. The association also holds training sessions and educational lectures on Public Relations and organizes conferences which are related to its objectives.

"We cannot help but speak highly of Qtel's continuous support towards the society, and its focus on aiding the development of not only the country but also the region. No one can deny Qtel’s positive and great impact in Qatar and around the region," said Mr. Jassim Ibrahim Fakhroo, Association Vice- Chairman of IPRA.

The International Public Relations Association Gulf Chapter with headquarters in Dhahran City, KSA, is one of the regional branches of IPRA founded in 1955 in Britain. Established in 2003, the Gulf Chapter joins members of Gulf States including KSA, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, U.A.E and Sultanate of Oman.
