Vodafone Qatar announced today that people who want to spend a year dedicated to helping others, can now apply for the Vodafone Qatar's ‘World of Difference' programme.

World of Difference, the flagship programme of the Vodafone Qatar Foundation, gives 4 passionate people the unique opportunity to work for a local charity or cause of their choice for one full year, with financial support from the Vodafone Qatar Foundation.

The World of Difference programme was first launched in New Zealand in 2003 and is now the flagship programme of the Vodafone Group Foundation and a number of Vodafone operating companies around the world. The programme is about connecting passionate people to a local need, so they can complete a project that will make a sustained difference to the lives of others. To date, more than 100 projects have been completed in over 30 countries, which have positively impacted the lives of thousands of people around the world.

"Vodafone is very excited to kick-start this programme in Qatar - it is one of the ways we are making a world of difference for all people in Qatar. Many of us dream of how we could make a difference, if only we had the time to do it.  The World of Difference programme is designed to make those dreams a reality for up to 4 people who are passionate about making a difference in Qatar," said Jan Mottram, Human Resources Director, Vodafone Qatar. 

Project ideas for the World of Difference programme are listed on Vodafone Qatar's website. These include several programmes run by the Qatar Red Crescent like the "Leaders of the Crescent" which uses educational and recreational activities that benefit children aged 4-8.  Another programme, "The patient relief fund" benefits people of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities living in Qatar and supports the needy by helping pay for medical equipment and surgery, both in and out of Qatar.
