Zain donated aid packages comprising food supplies worth JD 10,000 to support Gazans

Zain, part of the Zain Group, the leading mobile telecommunications provider in the Middle East and Africa, donated aid packages comprising food supplies worth JD 10,000 to support Gazans. This donation was part of a campaign to support Gaza, which was launched by the Jordan River Foundation in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, for Arab and Muslim Relief, Development, and Cooperation, under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah.

Zain's Chief Executive Officer Saad Nasir, confirmed that Zain is keen on contributing to programs that alleviate the suffering of Gazans and improve their humanitarian condition.

Nasir noted that Zain is continually taking the initiative in supporting charity campaigns that are launched in Jordan by different parties or charity organizations. Such campaigns play a part in alleviating the suffering of people. In June 2006, Zain sent urgent aid packages to Gaza and Lebanon while its employees carried out a fundraising campaign to help rebuild destroyed homes in Lebanon.

Nasir also added that in order to promote the principle of social solidarity and to achieve Their Majesties King Abdullah's and Queen Rania's vision, Zain executes several charity initiatives every year, including the Winter Campaign Zain will launch in the coming days for the fourth consecutive year. During this campaign, Zain will distribute aid to many disadvantaged families in Jordan.

Jordan River Foundation's Director General Valentina Qseissieh  thanked all the companies that contributed in helping Gazans. She also thanked Zain for donating to the people of Gaza during this difficult period and for always supporting Jordan River Foundation in its activities and development programs. She added that Zain is a leader in social development work thus promoting the Arab community.

Qseissieh further added that the Foundation is still open to receiving financial aid, which people could send to account number: 02-523 18087, Jordan Kuwait Bank, Main Branch/ Account of Gaza Sector Support Campaign. The Foundation also receives aid packages in its offices in Amman.

Three years ago, Zain signed a partnership agreement with the Jordan River Foundation to support all the activities and projects it organized. As a result of this partnership, Zain activated a phone line (number 110) for family support in February 2007. In addition, in commemoration of the second year of the Amman bombings, it sponsored, in November 2007, the foundation phase of the training course organized by the technical committee responsible for supervising the relief work of Humanitarian Support Network.

Gaza Support Campaign, launched by the Jordan River Foundation and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, for Arab and Muslim Relief, Development, and Cooperation invites all people to express their solidarity with Gazans by donating material or financial aid packages. Both organizations, in cooperation with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, will deliver these donations to Gaza.
