Jordan Telecom Group continues reducing Internet protocol connectivity costs

Jordan Telecom Group (JTG) has reduced the Internet protocol (IP) connectivity costs by 15% for Internet service providers (ISP) reaching a total of more than 70% reduction since 2007, the sole integrated telecom operator in the Kingdom announced during a press conference held yesterday.

The press conference was headed by JTG CEO Mr. Mickael Ghossein, Mr. Laurent Marini VP/JTG Wholesale CEO and Mrs. Wesal Balasmeh, Wholesale Marketing Director.

“We aim at playing an effective role in fulfilling His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision in increasing the penetration of the Internet usage in the Kingdom. This move, which benefits customers and end users, endeavors to strengthen the creation of an educated and well-informed generation as well as making Jordan a regional ICT hub,” said Ghossein.

In his welcoming speech, Mr. Laurent Marini CEO of the Wholesale Business Unit commented: "The Wholesale business unit provides the licensed operators in Jordan with Wholesale services where JTG Wholesale solutions allow operators to manage their operations over a quality assured and cost effective network, making JTG network the backbone of major players in Jordan for mobile, fixed and internet services".

For her part, Balasmeh said: “At JTG we focus on providing high quality IP connectivity service in order to offer fast and reliable access to the World Wide Web. For this reason, we are connected to a number of leading suppliers operating in Europe and the USA”.

Balasmeh went on saying that the Group is connected to the Internet in Europe and North America through four physically separated routes guaranteeing higher levels of availability and service continuity in addition to avoiding isolation when having a problem in one of the routes as well as decreasing the congestion in exceptional circumstances. She also highlighted that the Group is keen on developing its infrastructure to follow the global technology updates.

She pointed out that the monthly prices have been reduced by 15% with an average of 120JD/MB.

"The importance of this service is its ability to meet the telecom needs of all segments of the society as well as its role in the development process as it provides the larger population with one of the biggest technological revolutions known for mankind," concluded Mr. Ghossein.
