The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (Mobinil), as part of its continuous role in supporting education, was honored to contribute to the American University in Cairo (AUC) "New Campus Naming Opportunity" initiative whereby the sports tower was renamed the "Mobinil Tower". A ceremony was held on April 22, 2009 for the inauguration of this tower, and was attended by the American Ambassador in Egypt Ms. Margaret Scobey, Mobinil Chairman Mr. Alex Shalaby, Mobinil VP Human Resources Ms. Audette Hanna, AUC President Mr. David Arnold, AUC academic staff, and many notable figures of the Egyptian society.
In his opening speech Mobinil Chairman Mr. Alex Shalaby highlighted the strong relationship between the leading mobile operator in Egypt, and the premier liberal arts university in the region, which has over 90 years of experience and achievements. The relationship, spanning over the past 11 years, has covered many different activities such as supporting conferences, seminars, employment fairs, and the "New Campus Naming Opportunity" initiative.
It is important to note that Mobinil has a long history in contributing and supporting education in Egypt, funding academic scholarships, honoring distinguished secondary school and university students, sponsoring and supporting various seminars, conferences, academic research, as well as supporting a number of other higher education programs in various universities.
