Orascom Telecom Chairman and founder of Mobinil Mr. Naguib Sawiris, Mobinil Chairman Mr. Isakander Shalaby, Mobinil CEO Mr. Hassan Kabbani, and Mobinil Vice President for Technology Mr. Marwan Hayek personally welcomed Dr. Nazif and Dr. Kamel to this memorable event, and together they unveiled the commemorative plaque on the buildings facade.
Upon inaugurating this headquarters, the officials were given a brief presentation by Mr. Hayek about Mobinils state-of-the-art facility which incorporates 800 employees working in various departments including: Technology and IT, Networks, Products and Services, Information Security, Quality Control.
A brief tour was given by Mr. Sawiris, Mr.Shalaby, Mr.Kabbani and Mr.Hayek, where Dr.Nazif and Dr.Kamel interacted with a number of employees and congratulated them on their efforts. Various work stations and offices were visited during the tour and officials were impressed by the high-tech facility with its latest technology.
The brief presentation given to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Communication and IT covered Mobinil's various achievements and statistics in 2008, which included achieving the 20-million-subscriber milestone, and investing over 3.1 billion EGP. Also in 2008 Mobinil network, with over 7,072 sites, carried 140 billion calls in 43 billion minutes, as well as 1.5 billion SMS's. Moreover, by the year-end Mobinil was closer to its subscribers through 64 Mobinil shops, 52 distributors and agents, and over 15000 POSs all over Egypt, as well as roaming agreements with 367 networks worldwide.
